Wilderness First Aid: A Reading Guide

Preparedness, practical judgment, and the responsibility we carry for one another.

First aid begins before someone is hurt. It begins with choosing a suitable trip, learning the skills, and making room for a companion to say something is wrong.

These FloridaOATS articles explore the reasons behind that preparation. Some draw on my experience; others discuss equipment or clearly labeled hypothetical situations. They support learning and reflection, not a substitute for a certification course, individual medical advice, or emergency help.

I am Jeffrey John Fabiszewski, a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and a certified instructor qualified to teach Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification courses.

Read, then practice

Use the source links and review dates in each article. Follow your course provider’s current protocols and your level of training. Medication strengths listed as inventory are not dosing instructions. A historical treatment and its outcome do not establish that readers should repeat it.
